Commissioning
stained
glass - terms and conditions
First
contact may be
made by e-mail
or telephone.
This may be followed by a site visit.
Site
visits beyond 35
miles and/or involving considerable consultancy time would involve a
charge for travel and time.
During
a site visit,
measurements and other details will be taken. Ideas will be discussed
and costs outlined according to the kind of design, materials and
treatment. These will be stated in a letter to follow within
approximately 14 days. This will also confirm my agreement to supply
design skill, materials and labour in producing the work or an
estimated sum of money within a suggested time scale. This would form
a commissioning contract in which any clauses or contingencies will
be stated. Rough visual design ideas may be included.
On
written agreement by
the commissioned, a part payment for the work in developing a scale
design (1:10 or 1:5) will be payable at this point or on receipt of
the design. The original design remains the property of the designer
and the deign fee is non-refundable in the event of not accepting the
designs for execution. Fees for new or re-worked designs will be
negotiated.
- On approval of the
design, a full scale cartoon will be produced for which 30% of the
estimated total will be payable.
- On approval of the
cartoon, 30% of the total will be payable before purchasing
materials.
- On completion of the work, the
balance of estimated costs
will be payable, plus any part of the contingency previously stated
or extras requested by the commissioner.
Fixing
will be stated either
as an incorporated price or as an extra. This, and any additional
work for alterations other than sub-standard work will be charged on
an hourly basis.
The final balance is
due no later than
14 days after receipt of the completed
work/invoice, otherwise interest may be added.
The
final balance of
payment is strictly NET. Final receipts will be issued on request.
Payments for each stage
in progress will not be refundable, in the case of commissioner
cancelling.
Where
every effort is
made to make quotes accurately at the time of issue and keep to
estimates, fluctuations in material costs are regrettably beyond
personal control and quotes are not holding beyond three months of
issue.
While
utmost effort is
made to complete work to a deadline, a timescale given at the outset
is purely a guideline and open to review.
All work remains the
property of Alan Wright until payment is made in full.
Thank
you.
